Espros Photonics AG is a privately owned company. It was founded in 2006 by Beat De Coi.

Today, Espros Photonics is a fully developed IC design and production company with more than 50 employees working in our Swiss headquarters. Additionally, we operate a dedicated design center in China with 10 highly qualified IC design specialists.

Our own real estate property is located in Sargans, Switzerland. On 5000m² we operate our production and office facilities, including a 360m² clean room ISO6 (class 1000) and a full featured quality lab.

A Brief History

2006

ESPROS Photonics AG is established in October 2006 with the aim to develop a novel semiconductor process to combine world class photonics properties with standard CMOS devices.

2007

Start of technology development, chip design, and fab building development.

2008

Groundbreaking of the building construction.
Tapeout of the first designed chip (epc138).

2009

Mountain fab in raw construction finished.
First 3D-TOF pixel operational.

2010

Photo diode array with a QE >90% at 900nm available (epc300). ESPROS unique OHC15L Photonic CMOS^© process fully qualified. epc10x and epc13x family fully qualified.
Tapeout of the epc700 family.
Tapeout of the worlds first fully integrated 3D-TOF camera chip epc600.
More than 2 million chips sold.
EEPROM IP-block released.

2011

PDK for the ESPROS Photonic CMOS^© process technology released.
Move into our new building with ISO6 (class 1000) cleanroom offering the whole backend process for photonics chips.
Many new customers acquired.
